good quotes

I normally ignore the junk that is displayed above my email messages in gmail, but today this quote caught my attention and I thought I’d post it:

We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are.” –Anais Nin
I think this is an awesome quote for 2 reasons.  1.) It’s a reminder that what we see will never look the same as what other people see.  We all wear our own lenses, which determines what we actually “see,” and how we interpret that.  The more you can learn and understand about who you are, the more you realize this and are able to make “lens” adjustments where needed.

2.) The world around you, the life you’re living is a reflection of who you are and how you see it.  If you feel trapped, it’s because you see prison bars around you instead of wide open doors while others can look at your prison bars but only see wide open doors.  Once you understand that nothing is set in stone, and everything is how you view it, then you can start to empower your perspective, and create the life and world you want.

On the same quote page I found the above on I found a quote my mom kept on her nightstand.  I can remember so many times walking into her room, and reading this:

“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.
Anais Nin

I feel this.
